Sony considering premium PSN

Not any more free for all? Or at least not the whole thing? According to the website Kotaku, Sony considers a premium PlayStation Network (PSN) subscription model - if PS3 gamers are interested and willing to pay subscription fees ranging from $29.99 up to $69.99.

The 'old' online multiplayer gaming feature will remain free for all, as Sony emphasized in the past quite often, but premium features indeed have to be paid extra. There are plans to include a cross-game voice chat and other services to enhance a PS3 customer's online experience like cloud-based storage and free access to PlayStation 1 games as well as to online music and videos.

Analysts further speculate about support for Hulu TV, discounts on buying games and videos, demo sharing, and, of course, access to social communities like Facebook. The more you are willing to pay, the more features you get - uncertain yet is, what price will get you what features. $70-a-year could bring free access to PSOne Classics, full game trials, cross-game voice chat, Netflix without a loaded disc, user-to-user challenges, cloud storage and an extended warranty.
